What's included and what you need
Everything on one page, in plain language, so there is nothing to discover at handover.
Short answer
The monthly price includes Mexican third-party liability insurance, unlimited mileage, free delivery and collection, servicing and roadside support. You need a valid driving licence held for at least a year, a passport, to be 21 or older, and a refundable deposit. A credit card is not required, and there is no guarantor or proof-of-income requirement.
Included in the monthly price
- Mexican third-party liability insurance (seguro de responsabilidad civil) — legally required and not covered by your home insurance or credit card
- Unlimited mileage anywhere in Mexico
- Free delivery and collection in Playa del Carmen, Cancún, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras and at Cancún airport (CUN)
- Servicing, maintenance and consumables during your rental
- Roadside support in English, Spanish and Russian
- Valid plates, tenencia and all paperwork in the glovebox
What you need to bring
- A driving licence from your own country, held for at least 12 months — it is valid in Mexico as it is
- An International Driving Permit is not required by Mexican law, but bring one if your licence is not in the Latin alphabet — most rental companies here require it in that case, and it makes roadside checks quicker
- Your passport (and tourist card / FMM if you have one)
- Minimum age 21
- A refundable security deposit, returned when the car comes back in the same condition
Payment
- Monthly, in advance
- Mexican pesos in cash, bank transfer (SPEI), or card by agreement
- No credit card required and no hold placed on one
- No guarantor (aval), no proof of local income, no credit check
- 10% discount from 3 months, agreed at the start
Fuel, tolls and traffic
- The car comes with a full tank and comes back with a full tank
- Magna 87 petrol runs about 24–26 pesos per litre at Pemex — pay attention that the pump reads zero before they start
- Toll roads (cuota) to Mérida and Chichén Itzá are paid in cash, and are your cost
- Any speeding or parking fines during your rental are yours
Where you can drive
- Anywhere in Mexico on paved and reasonable unpaved roads
- The whole Yucatán peninsula — Chichén Itzá, Mérida, Bacalar, Holbox ferry, Valladolid — is fair game and included
- Please tell us in advance if you are planning to leave the peninsula, so we can make sure servicing lines up
- Beach driving and genuinely off-road tracks are not covered — that is true of every rental car in Mexico
If something goes wrong
- One WhatsApp number, answered in your language
- Breakdown that is our fault: we fix it or bring you the other car, at our cost
- Accident: call us first, we walk you through the Mexican procedure — do not move the car until the adjuster (ajustador) arrives
- Puncture: there is a spare and a jack; vulcanizadoras are everywhere and cost 100–200 pesos
Extending or ending early
- Extending is a message — most of our renters extend at least once
- Ending early: tell us as soon as you know and we settle it fairly
- Collection works exactly like delivery: we come to you, in any of the four towns or at the airport
